### We make deployment affordable.&#x20;

We are aware of the challenges that come with deploying an NFT collection on Ethereum, including high gas costs. That's why we've optimized our code to make the process more cost-effective and affordable.

### You will retain complete ownership.

With Mintpad, launching your NFT collection is a straightforward process that involves deploying a smart contract onto the blockchain. You will use your own Metamask wallet, to complete this step. It's important to note that while Mintpad provides the necessary tools and guidance, the deployment of the smart contract must be done by you. The transparency of the blockchain ensures that all information related to your NFT collection, including ownership, is publicly available and easily accessible. Only the owner of the smart contract, which is you, has the authority to make changes or manage the funds generated from the collection.

# What are Open Editions?

Open Edition NFTs are a type of digital art that allow for an unlimited number of identical NFTs to be minted and sold. Unlike Limited Edition NFTs, where only a limited number of unique NFTs are minted and sold, Open Edition NFTs allow for an unlimited number of NFTs to be created and sold, as long as the artist continues to make them available.

### Accessibility

Open Edition NFTs are often used for digital art that is meant to be widely accessible to a large audience. Because there is no limit on the number of NFTs that can be created, the cost of each NFT is usually lower than that of a Limited Edition NFT. This makes it easier for more people to own a piece of digital art and participate in the NFT market.

### Value

However, the open-ended nature of Open Edition NFTs means that they may be less valuable than Limited Edition NFTs over time, as the supply of Open Edition NFTs can continue to grow without limit. Additionally, because Open Edition NFTs are not limited in number, they may not have the same level of rarity or exclusivity that Limited Edition NFTs have, which can affect their perceived value in the market.

### Proof of ownership

Like all NFTs, Open Edition NFTs offer a secure and reliable way to verify ownership and provenance through blockchain technology. The transaction ledger acts as an immutable record of the ownership history, proving that the owner is the rightful and original owner of the digital art piece.

### Control

Open Edition NFTs also provide digital artists and creators greater control over their work. By minting their digital artwork into an NFT, each transaction of the artwork can be tracked and traced back to the original creator. This provides a clear record of provenance, adding value and legitimacy to the artwork. Additionally, the creator has the ability to set royalties on future sales, providing a new source of income and financial stability.

### Digital scarcity

Although Open Edition NFTs do not have the same level of rarity as Limited Edition NFTs, digital creators can still add an extra layer of uniqueness to their digital assets. By minting an Open Edition NFT, digital creators can offer the ownership of a unique digital asset, which can increase their perceived value and desirability among potential buyers and collectors.

### Liquidity

With Open Edition NFTs, ownership and provenance of digital assets can be accurately established and maintained, allowing artists and creators to set the value of their work and receive payment for each transaction, resulting in a sustainable and profitable income stream.

### Accessibility

Open Edition NFTs provide a revolutionary new way for individuals to acquire, trade and own unique digital assets, regardless of their geographic location or financial background. This breakthrough technology enables a wider range of individuals to participate in the digital asset market and experience the potential benefits of ownership and trading, previously only available to a select few.

# What is burning an NFT?

Open Edition NFTs are a type of digital art that allow for an unlimited number of identical NFTs to be minted and sold. Unlike Limited Edition NFTs, where only a limited number of unique NFTs are minted and sold, Open Edition NFTs allow for an unlimited number of NFTs to be created and sold, as long as the artist continues to make them available.

Burning an Open Edition NFT means to permanently destroy or delete a particular instance of an Open Edition NFT from existence. While Open Edition NFTs can be minted in an unlimited number, each individual NFT is unique and has its own transaction history. Burning an Open Edition NFT removes that particular NFT from the blockchain and transaction history, making it no longer available for ownership or transfer. Burning an Open Edition NFT can be done for various reasons, such as to demonstrate a commitment to a cause or to decrease the supply of a particular NFT.

Unlike burning a Limited Edition NFT, burning an Open Edition NFT does not affect the supply of the entire collection, as more Open Edition NFTs can be minted and sold as long as the artist continues to make them available. However, the burning of a specific Open Edition NFT may affect its perceived rarity and exclusivity, as it is no longer available for ownership.

Burning an NFT, whether it is Limited or Open Edition, means to permanently destroy or delete the NFT from existence. This can be done for a variety of reasons, such as to decrease the supply of an NFT or to make a statement about the environmental impact of NFTs. Once an NFT is burned, it cannot be recovered or transferred to another person.

The act of burning an NFT typically involves sending it to a public address with no private key, which renders it unusable and irretrievable. Burning an NFT is a way to demonstrate a commitment to a cause or to reduce the impact of NFTs on the environment, as it permanently removes the NFT from circulation.

Burning an NFT, whether it is Limited or Open Edition, may affect the value of the remaining NFTs in circulation, as the supply is decreased. However, burning an NFT can also be a way to make a statement or take action in support of a cause.

# What is blockchain?

Understanding terms like "blockchain" is essential for understanding the NFT space.

### What is blockchain?

Blockchain is a digital ledger technology that securely stores transactions in a decentralized network of computers. Each transaction is verified and added to the ledger as a block, forming a chain of blocks that create an immutable record of all activities on the blockchain. This means that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to hack or change the data stored in a blockchain.

DLT, or Distributed Ledger Technology, refers to the decentralized management of this ledger by multiple participants. This allows for a transparent and secure system, as every participant has a copy of the ledger and can verify the accuracy of the transactions. The use of cryptographic signatures, also known as hashes, further strengthens the security of the data stored on the blockchain.

The decentralized nature of blockchain technology and the difficulty in altering the data stored in it make it an ideal platform for securely storing valuable information, such as financial transactions, personal identity information, and digital assets like NFTs. Digital creators can take advantage of blockchain technology to securely sell, trade, and manage their digital creations, providing an additional layer of security and protection for their work.

# What is an NFT?

## **Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)**

Let's break down the term "non-fungible" for you in simpler terms. Fungible goods are those that are interchangeable and have the same value. For instance, if you have a dollar bill, it can be exchanged with another dollar bill of the same value. On the other hand, non-fungible goods are unique and cannot be replaced with something of equal value. For example, if your favorite musician signs and dates a dollar bill, it becomes one-of-a-kind and cannot be replaced with any other dollar bill of equal value.

### Proof of ownership

If you're a proud owner of an art piece, blockchain technology offers a secure and reliable way to verify ownership and provenance. The transaction ledger, which is accessible to everyone, acts as an immutable record of the ownership history and proves that you are indeed the rightful and original owner of the piece. This provenance information is critical, as replicas without a verifiable ownership history on a publicly accessible blockchain are of little value.

### More control

NFTs offer digital artists and creators greater control over their work. By minting their digital artwork, such as a photograph, into an NFT, each transaction of the artwork can be tracked and traced back to the original creator. This provides a clear record of provenance, adding value and legitimacy to the artwork. Additionally, the creator has the ability to set royalties on future sales, providing a new source of income and financial stability. NFTs offer a unique combination of provenance, traceability, and transparency, making them a valuable tool for digital artists and creators.

### Digital scarcity

With the help of NFTs, digital creators now have the opportunity to create and ownership of unique, one-of-a-kind digital assets. This opens up a new world of possibilities for artists, photographers, musicians, and more to showcase and sell their work in a secure and trustworthy manner. By minting an NFT, digital creators can add an extra layer of scarcity and uniqueness to their digital assets, thereby increasing their perceived value and desirability among potential buyers and collectors.

### Accessibility

NFTs provide a revolutionary new way for individuals to acquire, trade and own unique digital assets, regardless of their geographic location or financial background. This breakthrough technology enables a wider range of individuals to participate in the digital asset market and experience the potential benefits of ownership and trading, previously only available to a select few.&#x20;

### Liquidity

With NFTs, ownership and provenance of digital assets can be accurately established and maintained, allowing artists and creators to set the value of their work and receive payment for each transaction, resulting in a sustainable and profitable income stream.

### Increased Privacy

NFTs can be designed to offer a higher level of privacy, offering the ability to control and limit access to confidential information. This enhances the security of the digital asset and provides peace of mind to the owner and other stakeholders who want to ensure that the information is protected. NFTs can be programmed to allow for selective access based on certain conditions, ensuring that only authorized individuals are able to view the sensitive data. This enhances the overall value of the digital asset, as the owner has more control over who can access and use the information.

<br>

# What is a smart contract?

Smart contracts are a crucial aspect of NFT technology, without which NFTs would not be possible. They consist of code that stores and displays information in a manner that is visible to everyone on the blockchain network. The nature of blockchain networks ensures that this information is permanent and unalterable, meaning that once a smart contract is published, it cannot be altered. Smart contracts are responsible for crucial tasks such as verifying ownership, displaying token metadata, and recording transfers. Additionally, they can also be adapted to handle additional use cases, such as royalty payments for artists in future NFT sales.

It's important to note that you have the ability to update the information regarding your NFT collection at any time through your dashboard on Mintpad. This means that even if you are unsure of the correct description for your NFT collection, you can make adjustments at a later time.

<br>

# How do NFTs work?

An NFT is created when a unique digital asset is "minted." This minting process assigns a unique identifier to the asset, which is then recorded on the blockchain as an NFT. This identifier acts as a certificate of authenticity, proving that the NFT is the original and one-of-a-kind.

When an NFT is bought or sold, the transaction is recorded on the blockchain, and the ownership of the NFT is transferred to the new owner. This ensures that the ownership and provenance of the NFT can be traced back to its original creator. The transparency and immutability of the blockchain makes it possible for anyone to verify the ownership and provenance of an NFT at any time.

Smart contracts are also a key component of NFTs. They are self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement between buyer and seller being directly written into lines of code. They determine the conditions under which an NFT can be bought or sold, and can even specify the terms for future transactions, such as the distribution of royalties to the original creator.<br>

# FAQ

On this page, you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions from creators. This page is frequently updated.

## **Is launching a collection free?**

The platform is 100% free for creators. This applies to all supported blockchains currently and those that will be added. We do not take a percentage from your revenue.

## **What type of contracts (721/1155) does Mintpad support?**

Mintpad supports ERC-721 and ERC-1155, including an ERC-1155 Evolve contract where creators can add a burn phase to their open edition. Currently, we support a 2-to-1 burn ratio. Soon, we will introduce support for additional options for this type of contract.

## **Does the art get generated as the tokens are minted?**

No, you generate all the metadata and images with the Mintpad generator before uploading them to Mintpad. On platforms like OpenSea, you will only see the NFTs that have been minted. So, let's say you have a collection of 1000, but only 900 are minted. Officially, there are only 900 NFTs in the collection. However, you can always upload more and expand the collection. When uploading a batch of NFTs, you can choose to reveal them in batches as well.

## **Does the wallet checker work before the mint is live?**

When you upload a CSV file containing all the wallets, they are stored in the smart contract of your collection. If people try to mint but their wallets are not whitelisted, they will receive a notification informing them of their non-eligible status.

## **Is there an option to automatically mint a certain number of NFTs directly to a team wallet?**

Yes, this is possible. What you do is create a team mint phase before announcing the minting page to the community. You can send the minting page to the team members for them to mint. Afterward, you can remove this phase and add a new one for the public minting phases.

## **Is there an option to turn off being traded on BLUR or other no-royalty platforms?**

Currently, this functionality is not available. However, we have plans to add it in the future, enabling creators to have control over where their collection can be traded.

## **Is there a certain format our WL sheet has to be before saving as .csv to upload?**

What is likely going wrong is that there is a space or an incorrect wallet address included. We are currently working on a wallet validator that will detect and identify these errors for you. You are welcome to send us the CSV file at <support@mintpad.co>, and we will help rectify the errors to ensure a smooth process. It's important to remember that Microsoft Excel structures CSV files differently from Google Sheets. Therefore, it is crucial to use Google Spreadsheets for this purpose.

# NFTs not visible on OpenSea

In this tutorial, we will show you how marketplaces like OpenSea can correctly load your NFTs after you've burned them.

<figure><img src="/files/GFiGx1D2YDfRZmhynlih" alt=""><figcaption><p><em>Here's an example of how your collection might appear after you've burned your NFTs.</em></p></figcaption></figure>

**Step 1:** In the screenshot above, you'll notice a 'more' icon represented by '...' located at the top right, right next to the share icon.. Click on it.

**Step 2:** A dropdown menu will appear, and you should see an option called 'Refresh metadata'. Click on this button.

**Step 3:** Please wait for a moment while the platform refreshes the metadata of your NFT. Once completed, your NFT should load correctly!

<figure><img src="/files/TtXMfnF4KHMWArKHFJnM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Once the metadata has been refreshed by anyone (it doesn't necessarily have to be a collection holder), there is no need to refresh the metadata again.
{% endhint %}

# Connection problems (RPC)

The acronym RPC stands for Remote Procedure Call. RPCs enable remote communication with servers and allow the execution of programs in a different location. In the context of blockchain, an RPC allows access to a server node on the specified network, facilitating communication and interaction with the blockchain.

To interact with a blockchain, it is necessary to access the network servers using a suitable and generic option that allows operations such as viewing a balance, creating a transaction, or interacting with a smart contract. RPCs provide the means to establish this connection with the servers.

RPC servers can go offline or experience connection issues. Mintpad loads all blockchain information through the RPC configured in your wallet. Therefore, it is necessary to connect with your Metamask wallet in order to perform a transaction. In some cases, an RPC may become overloaded due to high traffic. In such situations, it is useful to know how to switch to a different RPC.

If you are experiencing problems with viewing your collection page on Mintpad, or when you are editing the contract in your dashboard do the following:

**Step 1:** Head over to [chainlist.org](https://chainlist.org/).

**Step 2:** Look for the blockchain you are experiencing problems with.

**Step 3:** When you click on the little arrow at the bottom of the blockchain section, a table should pop up with all the RPC URLs for that blockchain.

**Step 4:** Select the RPC server address at the top, that’s the best performing RPC Address at that time. Click on ‘Connect Wallet’.

**Step 5:** A pop up should appear from MetaMask saying “**Allow this site to add a network?**”. Approve this notification.

**Step 6:** Try to reconnect to your smart contract on Mintpad.

**Still experiencing issues?**\

3. Select a date and time for the mint phase to begin. This will be the starting point when minting becomes available for this phase.
4. Provide a name for the mint phase in the "Phase Name" field. This name can help differentiate between different phases.
5. Set the mint price for each NFT in the "Mint Price" field. This is the price minters have to pay to acquire one NFT during this phase.

# Generating unique NFTs

In this article you will learn how to generate unique NFTs with Mintpad's Generator.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/J5yz1xmwN6ZWo61Vcpxm" alt=""><figcaption><p>Example folder structure of an NFT collection</p></figcaption></figure>

## Here are the steps:

1. Create a folder with the collection name (in our example we called it "My NFT Collection").
2. Inside that folder, create a folder for each layer, for example "Background", "Hat", "Eyes" etc.
3. In those folders you put the traits in PNG. For example, all background images go into the "Background" folder, and all eyes go into the "Eyes" folder.

After you have placed all the traits in the folders you can upload the parent folder to the generator. In our case we upload the "My NFT Collection" folder.

# Generating 1/1 NFTs

In this article you will learn how to generate a 1/1 NFT collection with Mintpad's Generator.

It is important that you have already prepared the artwork. If you still need to generate your images you should follow the tutorial "[Generating Unique NFTs](/nft-generator-tutorials/generating-unique-nfts)".

<figure><img src="/files/zW3qb4NbQZ9XlO0JtbZH" alt=""><figcaption><p>Example folder structure of a 1/1 NFT collection.</p></figcaption></figure>

## Here are the steps:

1\. Create a folder with the collection name. In our example we called it "My NFT Collection".\
\
2\. In that folder create another folder with the collection name (in our example we called it "My NFT Collection").&#x20;

*Normally you create folders like "Background", "Eyes", "Hat" etc. but since you only have one NFT artwork you can create one folder with the collection name.*\
\
3\. Place your artwork as a PNG in that folder.\
\
4\. Duplicate your artwork as many times as you need. For example, if you make a collection of 100 NFTs, you must copy your artwork 100 times.\
\
5\. You can now upload the parent folder (in our example the folder "My NFT Collection", the one at the left, not the middle one) in the Mintpad generator, You can now start generating the metadata and the number of NFTs.\
\
**A quick tip:** on mac you can easily rename images in bulk. By selecting everything and then right-click>rename.

On Windows you can use this free tool: <https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/>
